Tor Johnson, 300 pound Swedish wrestler turned horror star whose films included BRIDE OF THE MONSTER, THE UNEARTHLY, THE BLACK
SLEEP, PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE and BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS, has been gone for many years. But recently he made a return to this
realm, thanks to the talents of sculptor and make-up artist Joe Riley of Dallas, Texas. Joe decided to devote his skills to
recreating Tor's famous face as a rubber mask. Unlike the popular mask produced for many years by the Don Post studio, Riley's
Tor was sculpted completely from photo reference without the aid of a lifecast of Johnson to work from. Only a handful of
these remarkable, hand-painted likenesses have been produced so far. The first one made was presented to beloved effects figure
Bob Burns and a few others are being created by special order. Joe has recently completed a new mask of James Arness as THE
THING which will be featured in Bob's live Halloween presentation in October 2001.
